Rewind

I have to do a little blog rewind because so much has happened that I haven't blogged, but that I want to.
First off is Pat's Run. This was a huge accomplishment for me.
Here's a little history, first. I stole this story from my good Friend Beth's blog. She writes so well. (I hope it's ok--thanks Beth)
"At 17, he met the recruiters for ASU who began by offering him a red-shirt position.Pat told them he didn't care what they did with him, but they had 4 years....and then he would be moving on.
Pat believed there was more to life than football, but gave 100% to everything he did. He earned his college degree in 3 1/2 years with a 3.84 GPA
When picked up by the Arizona Cardinals, He showed up to camp on his bicycle with his cleats dangling from the handlebars.
Even at his high salary, he still drove a modest car, when he was not on his bike.
He owned his defeats And gave glory for victory to his team.
He turned down a better offer to play for another organization, saying he couldn't leave his team.
And in the end, he walked away from a 3.6 million dollar contract to join the Army Rangers.
He left his young wife and enlisted quietly in Colorado with his brother.
Regardless of the scandal that surrounded his death, Pat put his loyalty above himself, and died doing what he believed in."
The scandal was that Pat Tillman was killed in Friendly fire in Iraq. Is there really such a thing as "friendly fire"? That's what I want to know. :)
Anyways, Pat Tillman is a True American Hero! He is someone to look up to and an example of someone who does what he believes in. I think that we should all strive to be more like him.
So, I decided to participate in Pat's Run; a 4.2 mile run/walk. 42 is Pat's number.
I said that this was a huge accomplishment for me because I trained for only two weeks prior and I never ran more than 2 miles. I couldn't do it.
But, I did it. I ran the who way. I was so dang proud of myself. I think that with the adrenaline and all the people, it just made it easier. I could have kept going, I even ran hard into the finish line in the stadium. It was awesome! I felt such a sense of accomplishment. Definitely a feeling that I want to feel more often.
Next up is a 10K in Kanab with Greg's aunt and cousins!
This is Russ and Jenny. They are my friends from Phoenix that ran with me.
This was our coral. We were in the 12 minute mile coral. Greg said that right after we took off, the first coral came running in; they ran 6 minute miles.
At the finish line! I did it!
Later in the afternoon, we went to the scrimage game with the kids. Afton put -a little-sunscreen on Greg's bald head, so that he wouldn't get burned. So Cute!
We got our picture with Sparky!
Afton was afraid or shy, so she's standing behind me while I take the picture.
Makoa waived and said "Bye Parky, Bye Parky. Bye" It was so cute!

Nice Job Nancy! I want to do something like that sometime. I just hope that when I do, I'll have the adrenaline that you did to help me make it through. :)
