The Adversary

Yes, we have an adversary in our garden! It is an evil little thing that eats the roots of our plants and kills them before full harvest.
I hate this little guy!
Last year this grub got to most of our garden. Out of our five short rows of corn, we got eight ears. That's all!
At the end of the season we dug up the dirt and pulled out and killed a hundred or so. (I am not exsaderating) and then in the early spring we went through the soil again and I swear we pulled out and killed two hundred more. Then we put some pesticide down to get rid of the rest.
While we were planting, we still found a handful or two!
Did I mention that I HATE these bugs!
I would rather weed everyday than have to deal with bad bugs. They are so hard to get rid of and I don't like using pesticide, but what else can I do. I gotta kill these suckers!!!

Makoa was a great garderner!

Greg bought one of those jiffy greenhouse planters and the kids had a kick out of pushing the seeds into the peet moss. Some of them didn't germinate and I think that it may have something to do with how many seeds were in each. We tried to monitor, but you know!
