It's been a month since I last posted and so much has happened. I can't believe how my life has changed since I moved back down to Phoenix. Can I say "Taxi driver"!?!
I didn't realize that school mom meant taxi driver. For the first two weeks I was in my car from 12:30 to 3:30 everyday, driving around. And I was in the car in the morning for an hour, too. Plus if I had any errands to run, more car time.
Afton goes to a charter school and it's new. It takes me 30 minutes to take Afton to school. The main campus will be much closer, but it's not built yet, so we are at a Catholic facility right now. Her school is Adams Traditional Academy and it's awesome! I almost changed my mind about sending her there because of how far away it is, but after learning more about the cirriculum and the environment, I love it! Afton is definatley getting started off on the right foot. And I have to say that she has the BEST kindergarten teacher at the school. Mrs. McGintey is her name and she tells me that Afton has found her comfort zone. I said, "does that mean that she doesn't be quiet?" Mrs. McGintey laughed and said, "I won't say that, but she likes to chatter and she's really working on being a better listener."
After the first week of school, I was putting the girls to bed and they wouldn't stop talking, so I said no more talking and Afton raised her hand in the air to ask if she could tell me one more thing. It was so cute!
Brinlee started Preschool and she loves it too. She was very timid and grouchy about going at first. On the second day, she threw her backpack down in the hall and kicked at the teacher. I was so worried, but they said that she sits by herself for the first few minutes and them she would come over and play. She did this for the first two weeks and now we are on week four and she is doing just fine. When I go to get her, so comes running to me with a big hug and I LOVE that! She's only three, but she's going to school so young because she gets free speech therapy through the school district which she really needs. She only goes three days a week for 2 and a half hours.
I have since took the mormon plung. We bought a mini van and I've worked out some car pool for Afton and Brinlee gets picked up by the short bus to go to school becasue it's only her class on the bus, but I still pick her up after school. So the taxi driver has less hours in the car and Makoa can get a nap in his bed instead of the car. The poor guy was such a trooper for the first couple of weeks. He had no routine, weird nap times and ALOT of time in the car.

Afton's first day of School! She has to wear uniforms. She can wear red, white, or blue polos and kahki or blue pants and shorts and skirts. We picked out some cute ones and she really does look cute. (This picture does not do her justice.)
Brinlee's first day of School! She looks so cute, even with her dad's fake "Cheese" smile.
Our new mode of transportation! Greg siad that the only mini van that he would drive was a Honda Odessey. We got lucky enough to find this one in our price range. It's a new "used" car, but the last owners took great care of it. They replaced the transmission at 88,000 miles and we bought it with 106,000. Our Honda friends say that the only thing that goes on these vans are the trans, so we got that set and hope that it'll last us a long time!
Our new home! We also got lucky enough to find and awesome landlord. (On moving day, he came over to the house with a case of water, and a box of capri sun for the kids and cookies. What a thoughtful guy.)
This is a three bedroom house with a den. It has tons more room than our last house and we are excited. I'd show pictures of the inside, but there are still so many boxes everywhere.

Nancy! So exciting to see a new post from you. Looks like you are settling into life and this new chapter rather well. Fun milestones come with kids in school. They grow so fast. My boys wear uniforms too and I love it! Much easier. Hope you are feeling well!
cute house... cute kids... cute car :)
I have some uniforms that Cori isn't using, I'd be happy to pass along!
So glad you got a mini van and worked out a transportation that works for you. Taxi is your new middle name, but it is so worth it. You are going to a great school! Enjoy it!
Come over for dinner any time. Glad to have you close!
Kai has to wear uniforms as well. She absolutely hates them but its easy enough to get her dressed in the morning. Welcome to the mad moms in minivans club! Its awesome! By the way cute house!
Glad to see that you guys got settled and are doing good!
I'm curious where you are living then. . . Where are you? I thought Greg said you were going to be off Jomax. . . we pass there when I take my kids to school. They have a uniform school too and I'm so happy about it!
