President's Day Dinner

Brinlee loves President's Day.

She has ever since I can remember.

I think that maybe it started in Phoenix in kindergarten when they studied all the presidents and made posters and presentations and shared them with their class.
Or Maybe its because she had the best teacher ever in Kindergarten...I mean only the coolest teacher dresses up as the Cat in the Hat during Dr. Suess week.

While in kindergarten, Brinlee did research and made posters on two presidents; Pres. George Washington and Pres. Barak Obama. But I cannot for the life of me find any pictures of her Obama poster. (Maybe her dad erased them. ha!)

At the school, Adams Traditional Academy, all the kindergarteners did this project. So when Afton was in kinder, she did a poster on Pres. Chester Arthur and Pres. George W. Bush.
I am such a nerd...I loved these projects. I wish Koa and Em could have done them.

Lightbulb!

Maybe we'll make it a new family tradition for each of the kids to do a poster on a president, present it to the family and then we'll have our dinner. Seeing as how the dinner was such a hit!
(I just love it when I'm writing and a brilliant idea come to me.)

These are Afton's posters.

And...

This was Brinlee last year for President's day.

Just for Fun.

She dressed up as Abraham Lincoln.
Honest Ab is her favorite president.
She even learned the Gettysburg Address.

And this is what happened this year...

Brin looked up favorite foods of the presidents and we made a fancy dinner with fancy plates and glass cups. We even had name plaques. We were serious business over here.

Our menus consisted of :
Theodore Roosevelt's favorite fried chicken with white gravy and John Adams Cider. We added our own potatoes and green beans because we are sure the Presidents love them as well.

Koa dressed up as Ab Lincoln and the rest of us just dressed up in nice clothes as politicians or Presidents wives.

We had such a fun little night!

A new family tradition this will have to be!
