December was filled with the lots of Holiday festivities and weather.
We had a few dry days and lots and lots of wet days. I love this picture of Emery and her best friend, Po walking to school one morning. They were dressed up for some sort of spirit week. They were cowgirls. They planned their outfits to wear braids and neckerchiefs, and jean jackets.I just love this little friendship that they share.
Coming home from church one day we couldn't even see the houses. It was very much perfect for the Christmas season. Made it feel like winter in a tropical place.
And I took a picture of this downfall one day. Just look at all that water coming down!
It was so wet that I had green mold growing on my chicken coops.
And inside the coops we had that fuzzy mold that grows on food that got lost in the back of the fridge for a month. But this mold grew in just a few days.
Andrea and Sean were here for just a little while longer. They left that first weekend in December, but were here to help decorate the Christmas tree and attend one of Afton's several Christmas Concerts.
Aren't they the cutest Reindeer?
This was one of Afton's Christmas Concerts for the Jazz Band. She was playing the Bass Guitar.
We were in the thick of swimming, as well. States was just around the corner and Koa and Afton were both working on getting the times they needed. And Emery is just loving swimming and being part of the team.
At the Elementary school, the PTA hosts a fun Santa's workshop night with food, crafts and entertainment from the school Dancetyme group. This year they actually changed the name from Girlztyme to Dancetyme because they had some boys that wanted to be a part of it. Koa was one of the three boys. And he was so into it!
We also had our ward Christmas party and Greg with the rest of the bishopric performed a special musical number. It was so much fun.
Brin and her friend Lily performed Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer. Brin is so brave and I really admire her!
Emery asked Santa for an American Girl Doll for Christmas.
And these two were side by side all night, as usual.
Afton performed another Jazz Band Concert, but instead of the school Cafeteria, it was at the Mall this time. She is getting more and more confident. She even turned up the amp so we could hear her this time. (She is so funny, She has been turning the volume low because she has been afraid of messing up.)
Afton with a few of her friends.
For Activity Days the girls wanted to put on a play and because they had an amazing leader. She helped them carry it out. The girls wrote the script and practiced it several times before inviting us parents to come and watch. Brinlee was very much into this. I think just maybe she'll be my drama girl in High School. She even complained a few times that the other girls weren't taking it serious and they were messing around. She wanted it to be a good production.
At the end of the year the Young Women's Program in my church does a Young Women in Excellence Night. The girls share a value project that they've been working on and it is just a special night to celebrate how these girls are ad their hard work.
Afton's project was on Good Works. During the summer when Presley was visiting, her and Afton spent an afternoon making freezer meals for a couple of families in our ward that just had new babies. They even made a meal for our freezer, too.
This is one of the babies that was born this summer. He's so big already!
States for swimming was in Kona this year, so Makoa, Afton and I headed over to the Big Island for States. But that needs a post all it's own, so that one will be up next.
The rest of our December and Holiday's happened in Arizona and Idaho. We were blessed enough to save money and plan to go home this year, And yes even though Maui is home to us now, going back to where family is is also home and always will be.
