Emery is Eight!
And it's time to celebrate!
(This is a late post...back in 2018, Emery turned eight.)
And that's just what we did. We gathered up her friends, called a few more and met everyone at Charley Young, one of our favorite beaches. Emery loves this beach because she says, "the waves aren't too big, they are just right." There is a sandy bottom for miles, some snorkeling on a reef off to the right, and a plenty of soft sand for castle building.
The mommas...
Afton with her favorite little guy to babysit...
After the beach, we stopped at Ululani's for THE BEST shaved ice on the island!
And opened presents...
(just a little note on Koa's face. He was sad/mad because I made him share a shaved ice and the girls all got their own...Don't ya just feel bad for the guy. Haha! Love ya Koa! I feel your pain. It is Real. Sometimes life isn't fair.)
Then it was time for the long awaited ear piercing. She was so excited, but pretty scared at the same time.
It was so cute that Greg gave her his hand and told her to squeeze it when it hurts.
There's a half smile...
All Done and Beautiful.
Opening more presents at home with the family.
When our kids turn eight, we gift them with their own set of scriptures complete with their name engraven on them and a case to hold them in.
Brinlee has taken over the role of cake decorator. I usually make the kids whatever they ask for in the cake department and even though they are in the "nailed it" category most times, I still love to do it. And I've rubbed off on Brin. She asks to make the cakes pretty regularly. So this year, she made Emery's all by herself and she's pretty creative. So Cute!
Emery's good friend, Isabella wasn't able to come to the beach with us, so we had another celebration with just her and her momma.
This time went out to Lahaina and I took my paddleboard. Isabella's mom had never paddleboarded before, so it was a good time in the water teaching her.
And that's not all of the Eight is Great Celebrations.
There is more to come.
But first, 8 Reasons why I love you, Emery:
1. I Love what a Big girl you are turning into, but yet, you are still my baby girl. You still come and cuddle with me early in the mornings and I cherish that!
2. I Love that you love your freedom and independence with growing up. You like to ride your bike to school with Makoa rather than walk with me. I'm pretty sure I cried the first day that you both took off up the street without me. However. you still walk with me some days.
3. I Love how much you love the beach and the ocean. You are really getting good at boogie boarding and are always up for the beach, anytime of the day, any day of the week.
4. I Love how beautifully your skin tans. Man, it's so pretty, but I do have to make you protect it with sunscreen and sometimes rash guards.
5. I Love your two big front teeth that have just come in and that smile!
6. I Love your obsession with dried bananas. You love to dehydrate them and the two of us, eat them like candy.
7. I Love that you are getting more vocal with what you like and don't like such as having an opinion about the music playing or what to watch on TV. I know your siblings get annoyed with it as all siblings do, but I think it's pretty dang cute.
8. This last one is a love/hate. I have never met a pickier eater...hate. I don't even know how you are growing. We have beans (not the green ones) quite a bit, but not you. You eat chips and cheese, nachos, that you make all by yourself in the microwave. I love that you are learning independence and are standing strong. You will need both of those qualities, someday. But, I do have to tell you that you can survive on beans, You should learn to like them.
Happy Birthday Emery Sue! We Love you!
