Headache from H-E-L-L!!!

Ok, I know that I don't curse, but seriously, there is no other word. Last Thursday I got my first ever MIGRAINE!! I was throwing up, couldn't pick my head up of the bathroom floor, and when I did to throw up, I felt like my head was going to explode. Thanks to Afton for bringing me the phone and a dear friend, everything was fine until Greg got home. Then Thanks to more friends and grandma Randee for watching my kids, Greg took me over the Urgent Care, But because (of Course) I have never had a migraine before and it was the worst headache I've ever had they sent me to the ER. They wanted to check to make sure that it wasn't an aneurysm, so they did a CT scan, but that's not all they did a spinal tap, too. They took fluid out of my spine to make sure that I didn't have something else. I DIDN'T!!! I SHOULD HAVE JUST SAID "GIVE ME THE DRUGS AND LET ME GO HOME" But, you see I didn't, I'm a DR. say, Nancy Do!! (NO MORE)
AND THEN IT BEGAN!!!!
I went home from the hospital with a headache still!! Then I took Imitrex which is what they prescribed me and two cocktails (4 advil, 2 tylenol) and nothing. Every time I would get up, my back and shoulders would get stiff and hurt and my head would just pound. I couldn't do anything. I was so upset. And I was throwing up again, and I didn't even eat anything, so there was nothing to throw up. Anyways, Sunday, we went back to the ER, but in Prescott this time and they said that it was a SPINAL HEADACHE from the spinal tap. So, they got me some major narcotics and a caffeine bag through and IV. They loaded me and I was feeling ok. But they said that if it came back, I would need to go in and get a blood patch. I went home, but on Tuesday, I woke up as if I had never had any drugs, not even percacet could knock this thing out. So ER, TRIP NUMBER THREE!! I went back to Prescott and had to wait until and anesthesiologist became available to give me a blood patch. They took blood out of my arm and through and epidural, they put it in my back. It took TWO tries, about ten hours (all together)and a million pokes to get it done. I was so dehydrated that the doctor couldn't find a good vein. He needed a bunch of blood. I was drinking a ton the day before. (Not funny!!)
But the RELIEF was instantaneous. As soon as he put the blood in, the headache went away. I couldn't believe it. Now I have a sore back. but I should be back to myself in the next day or so. So, as I said before, there is no other word!!! I'm just glad thats over with!!!
