May Day in 2016 came with some rain.
We are used to what we call Makawao mist where it just sprinkles a little bit and then goes away. Sometimes even with no clouds in sight.
But, so far all our May Days have been sunny.
Up until today.
The clouds rolled in and it starting raining...it was a little more that Makawao mist, but not heavy rain either. It came, stayed for about fifteen minutes and then went on it's way....just enough for people to pull out umbrellas or put jackets over heads.
Brin was in 4th grade and as per tradition for the 4th grade class, they did a song and dance with Hawaiian instruments. Brin played the Ipu.
(shoots..blurry pic.)
(skip to 1:34 in the video to see Brin play her Ipu.)
Koa was in 3rd grade.
The kids all tie dyed their own shirts in class to wear for the special day.

Here is their dance...
This kid is awesome and has some great groove.
This year was Emery's first year doing May Day at Makawao Elementary as she was in kindergarten.
She wore the cutest Hawaiian dress and did "Put your arm in" song with Hawaiian words.
They also, asked a parent to come join the kids in the dance.
So, I had my debut at May Day, as well. :)
Here is her dance...
This is my good friend and PTA partner in crime, Jenny.
Her daughter is Brinlee's BFF. And somehow Afton gave Nicole (Brin's BFF) the nickname of Pickle and it stuck. IDK. Kids are so funny.
And that's a wrap for May Day 2016.
