May Day 2017

Since I'm in a rewind...Let's keep going.

(It's going to be so nice to have all these May Days here on the blog to find quickly and reminisce.)

In 2017, Brinlee was in 5th grade and in the May Day Court. She was a princess that represented the island of Keawolawe. (in the gray dress)

The girls are all lined up and ready to go.

Let's zoom in on that cute face a little more...
my, oh my, isn't she beautiful?!!

Before the festivities begin, we gave our beloved Miss Brandi a lei.
Did I mention how much we love her?! ;)
She is so talented and works so hard every year to keep this tradition alive.
And we are in ah every year, as well.

I have definitely embraced the Aloha of the Island. I am a hugger and I love that in our hellos and goodbyes are all hug involved.

Look at these two! Brinlee's prince is my friend Kami's son. Cute kid!

And here is their video... ( my friend, Katie's husband recorded and uploaded this video onto youtube.)

This is my little but less professional video of Brinlee's Dance...
Skip ahead to 2:58 in the video for a better view of Brin.

This is Brin's classes' first Hawaiian Chant...

And this is of the second chant that Brinlee's class did...

I love listening/watching these kids learn this amazing Hawaiian culture.

After the 5th graders present the court and dance, the rest of the grades perform their dances.

Here is Emery with her 1st grade teacher, Ms. Dunn.

Ok, I know I take WAY too many pictures of this cute girl...But I just can't help myself..
She's my baby and she's just so cute!

Greg made her this beautiful lei...He's such a good dad!

Here is her dance...

Up next was Makoa in 4th grade.
The 4th graders do a dance with Hawaiian instruments. Koa had the Ipu.

Here is his dance...

Then the 5th graders did their "send-off" dance...

Here are the PTA mom's kids.....
I wish I would have gotten a picture of all of us, but I didn't. :(
Cody (Carol), Max aka Batman (Katie), Nicole aka Pickle (Jenny), and Brin aka Bob (me)

The teachers perform each year, as well...
Here is their dance....

This year we were lucky enough to have my mom and dad here visiting, so they were able to witness this rich cultural activity.
We had Jamba Juice and were off for the rest of the day to explore with the island with "grandma and grandpa."
